... replica was dedicated in 1973.
- The chapel contains the following original parts: Steeple, cornerstone, window frames, doors, benches, pulpit, and the stained glass window. The original chapel was dedicated in 1883 and demolished in 1973.
The 18th Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, one of the original nineteen ecclesiastical wards of Salt Lake Valley, was organized February 14, 1849. My great grandfather was the Bishop of the 18th Ward 1851 to 1878. The original chapel came a couple years after my great grandfather was released.

Pioneer Day ...
... Which is a Utah State Holiday -
- July 24th honors the arrival of the Latter-Day Saints into the Salt Lake Valley back in 1847. My great grandfather was with the first wagon company lead by Brigham Young. My great grandmother arrived with the Edward Bunker Handcart Company in Salt Lake City on October 2, 1856. A couple of quotes on this company. -
- "About 320 individuals were in the company when it began its journey from the outfitting post at Iowa City, Iowa. This company left Florence, Nebraska on July 30" (lds.org). -
- "... the companies were fitted out with hand carts. I was given charge of a Welsh company and left Iowa City June 23rd 1856... The Welsh had no experience at all and very few of them could speak English. (Bunker, Edward, Autobiography, 1894, 22-23). -

Picnic Time
- We arrive in time for a picnic with Derek and Erica.
- The race is on -
Enjoy!
- Derek and Erica's company had a drawing for gifts. They gave away X-Boxes, bikes, TVs, kitchen-aid, microwave, etc. Around second to the last, they described the next give as a seven-piece patio set. I look at Derek and said, "you don't want to win this one. It won't fit in the Durango." Just then they announced, "DEREK YOUNG".

4th of July ...
... in Spanish Fork Canyon with the Daniels Clan. -
- We had a great time. I just sat back and watched Dennis and Nancy interact with cousins they had not seen in years (for Nancy it was over 40 years). Enjoy!
Nancy and Jack. Jack is my age (one year older than Nancy). Nancy and Jack were close, not only as cousins but friends. Jack builds hotels. -
Laural and Diane. Laural is Jack's wife, and Diane is Tom's wife. Diane is the author of Over the Moon. Diane mentioned her second in the series is completed and working to get it published. Tom and Diane live in St. George, Utah. Jack and Laural live in Henderson, Nevada. -
